Akirad Repository

Hello! This is akirad repository from Paolo Rampino, this repository works on ubuntu gutsy, hardy and intrepid( i386 and amd64 ), all software is compiled with option -O0 or -O1 for better stability. You can find various tutorial on www.akiradproject.net/tutorial . This site is funded by donations. Warning! All these packages depends to package akiradnews that inform about news of this repository, if you want to disable or remove this package follow: how to remove or disable akiradnews.

To use this repository download and install addakirad.deb ( if it not install itself with double click, open a terminal and paste this line: wget -c http://akirad.cinelerra.org/pool/addakirad.deb && sudo dpkg -i addakirad.deb ). This package detects your version of ubuntu, installs and keeps akirad repository updated. Do not forgot to press reload on synaptic ( you can find it on system>administration - on kubuntu the package-manager is adept) or open a terminal and paste: sudo apt-get update .

Now you can install:
  • cinelerracv (x86 and x86_64 without opengl 2.0 video card)*
  • cinelerracv-gl (x86 e x86_64 with opengl 2.0 video card)*
  • cinelerracv-smp (multiprocessors, also with opengl 2.0 video card)*
  • cinelerra-swtc ( a shapewipe video transitions collection for cinelerra )
  • cinelerra4-repack ( repack of official heroine warrior cinalerra with localization - only for hardy )
  • open movie editor (latest)
  • frei0r-plugins ( usefull with openmovie editor )
  • dvdstyler
  • qdvdauthor-akirad (with some fix)
  • lives ( LiVES is a Video Editing System )
*(these cinelerra packages add cinelerra start script that set shmmax to 0x7ffffff and add iso-8859-15 to support translations. On Hardy, I suggest you to setup cinelerra to work with pulseaudio:

Settings> Preferences> playback> audiodriver> esound>

on server leave empity
on port set 7007).

If you had mix your sources list with debian-multimedia.org, before you need to revert ffmpeg, libpostproc, libavcodec, libavformat, libfaad and libfaac to ubuntu version. You must remove debian-multimedia.org from sources.list, sudo apt update and with synaptic filter by obsolete package, find libfaad, libfaac ... and then you can press ctrl-e to come back to ubuntu packages.

Repo Problems

Compliments for your job, i haven't understand how it was useful until i haven't it no more. With Trevino you are a star in open software italian world.

In this two days your repo doesn't work, maybe for some reason about new year, now it correctly works. Thanks again!

Edoardo

What is this?

Do I copy the whole thing? or is that two lines?
Do i copy the first one, then enter, then wait, then enter the second line?

Why doesn't the little star with the arrow Icon (in the upper right) in Ubuntu update my repository for me?

cinelerra 4

will you add cinelerra 4 for intrepid as well? it fixes a bug for working with H.264 files, they are slowed down in cinelerra 2.1.
thanx

Thanks for fixed Gutsy Cinelerra Packages

Paolo,

Thank you VERY much for the fixed Gutsy Cinelerra packages. Your hard work and attention to respond are greatly appreciated. Please keep up Gutsy support as long as you can.

Your time and work are appreciated!

Gutsy Cinelerra updates still broken with libquicktimecv

Paolo,

Thank you very much for your many hours of work on this great repository. Thanks also for keeping Gutsy support, it is still a great distro with many users. I have made great use of Cinelerra and DVD Styler until the recent updates.

In Gutsy I am having a dependency conflict with libquicktimecv, I know you have fixed this for Hardy but it is still broken in Gutsy. If you can't or won't fix it would you consider putting the older Gutsy packages back up in the repo. I would be willing to make a donation for getting this issue resolved.

Your attention is appreciated -GMaq

verified!

I work to fix it soon! thx for this bug report.

Update for cinelerra is not working on Hardy 10-28-2008

I get a window that says "Not all updates can be installed."
The four updates are unchecked and the "changes" tab shows:
"The list of changes is not available yet.
Please try again later."

Here are the four updates listed under "Other Updates"

cinelerra-generic
libguicast-generic
libmpeg3hv-genteric
libquicktimehv-generic

Other updates have worked great up to this one

Regards,
Craig

(it may not exacly be the exact english message, it's a personal translation from french)

Desktop Akirad Repository icon

I promise you I will delete the Akirad icon every time it appears on my desktop and curse when I do it.
What a wonderful idea! Piss off your users!

Please do not place unwanted spam on my desktop.
Please do not open annoying browser pages when I'm upgrading.
Unfortunately I have had to remove Cinelerra to get rid of unresolved Akirad upgrade elements that never get resolved.
I will reinstall since I like Cinelerra but clean up your act please or I will have to use another repository.

Please listen to your users.
I just might buy you coffee if you stop this :-)

OK

I will start to gradually remove akiradnews from packages as experiment soon, I wish that the users not stops to donate or I must add it again. Addakirad will ships with a very simple way to install all my packages.

Update error

Any news about the error described below?

Update problems...

Hi there!

I am sooo thankful for your work and the repository! Saves me lots of trouble! :o)
However: Today there seems to be a new update of the "libmpeg3cv" and "libquicktimecv" packages that conflicts somewhat with the Ubuntu packages "libmpeg3hv" and "libquicktimehv", because it tries to overwrite these libraries!

Is there any solution for that?

Greetings and thank again!

Floh

I had start to fix the problem

needs about 2 hours. Thankyou for bugs report!

Update problems

Hi there,

I'm still having those update problems as Floh described.
Will that fix be done, soon?

However:
Thank you for this project and your awesome work!!

Greetings from Bavaria,
Sebastian

depends problem

Yep,
Same/always problem :
install :
- cinelerracv-gl . . . . > . . conflict libguicastcv and libguicastcv-gl (cant install both which are requiered )
- cinelerracv-smp . . > . . conflict libmpeg3cv-gl and libmpeg3cv-smp (can't install both which are riquered )

sorry for my bad english if it was !
=)

Already fixed...

Wow, you sure are quick! :o)
Thanks a lot again for fixing the bug and for maintaining this repository! I really love cinelerra and I don't understand why Ubuntu does not add it to the main repositories!
Do you have any recommendations for similarly professional Video or Audio programs you should definitely have installed on your distro? Because I'm an amateur musician and always did my audio recordings on a Mac until I just found out about "Ardour" which has been around for so many years and is just great but really not well-known!
So, since I will be cutting a long and complicated project soon, any hints on what software might help, too?

Thanks again!

upgrade issue

Hi Paolo,
same request about same issue.

Is it fixed now ? how to solve this ?

Thank you.

Regards

Didier

Great work!

Just wanted to tell you, that you're doing great work with your repository. I'm using it for a long time already to install cinelerra for example, and I think it's fantastic to be able to install such cutting-edge programs so easily in Ubuntu...

Go on like this!

Thank you!

Great feedback! :)

No desktop icons please!

I never minded the akiradnews package in the past, but after last update I suddenly found a shiny Akirad icon on my desktop. I suddenly got flashbacks to Windows adware. Dude, this time you've definitly gone to far. And just when people are complaining that akiradnews is adware you now give them even more reason to complain. On Linux the desktop is a sacred place that NO PACKAGER SHOULD EVER TOUCH. I'm going to install the akiradnews override package straight away. I just hope that now you'll not include these Icons in the software packages themself.

Just for the record: I love the Cinelerra packages you distribute, and understand that you don't gain any money from ads etc. But trust me, everybody that downloads these packages knows you are accepting donations, and putting stupid icons on their desktops won't motivate them to donate (more). It'll just irritate them.

- Yogarine

exactly

my desktop is MY desktop, dont turn the linux user experience into a windows user experinece..

thank you for your point of view,

...

Adware

I couldn't agree with this comment more. Over the years I've added many 3rd party repos into my sources.list - I don't know the names of half of them. After an update, I suddenly have new windows with websites advertising something I've never heard of, an icon on my desktop to something I don't know about, etc, after just entering my root password and running all updates - this is NOT what I expect. Not only that, but I've never seen ANYTHING else in linux behave like this. It is highly irresponsible and, as the parent says, smacks of Windows adware.

I have deleted the repository, and definitely won't be adding it back in. Repositories are meant to be fully trusted software sources - flashing ad pages, desktop icons... This is certainly NOT trustworthy behaviour.

If I...

wanted to add an addware to my repository I would not have to create a package called akiradnews ( that can be also disabled), and trust me there is many way to make an hidden addware/malware. I lose lot of time and money to maintain repository and the only thing I ask is 2 second to read a notice. The other repository frankly I do not know what doing, I know that mine is clean and always updated. I note your views but I am comforted that many others actively helping me with donations of money and mirror, corrected proofs and reporting bugs.

Paolo

ops

You are right... the new akiradnews has a bug ( only with english desktop ) that made icon also if you say no. Anyway I had solved and I thank you for this bug report. I'm sorry for this inconvenience.

bye Paolo

no desktop icons

Your repo is _out_ of my sources.list.

has been good...

akirad access - installing cinelerra

Dear Paolo,

I have now tried for about a week to install cinelerra via your repository. Funny enough, some time in June I was able to install it on my desktop. But now, it seems to be impossible, I cannot access your repository. Can the problem be related to the change of servers / service provider you mention? I don't get updates on the desktop system either.

What happens is this:

I install akirad repository using e.g. addakirad.deb. But whatever method I try, the result is the same, I cannot reload in synaptic package manager and access the cinelerra and other packages. Using the terminal does not help either. Here is what I usually get:

Failed to fetch http://akirad.hfbk.net/dists/akirad-hardy/main/source/Sources.gz 504 Gateway Timeout
Failed to fetch http://akirad.cinelerra.org/dists/akirad-hardy/main/binary-amd64/Package... Hash Sum mismatch

No package list is available for installation.

When I download a package from http://akirad.cinelerra.org/pool/main-hardy/ the response is:

Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: akiradnews
I wonder if other experience the same problems or if its a peculiarity of my system (Intel CoreDuo 2.4GHz, 4GB Ram, Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy) 64,

Both mirrors seem not to respond, it is always beck to akirad. Is there an alternative?

I wonder if others experience the same problems or if its a peculiarity of my system (Intel CoreDuo 2.4GHz, 4GB Ram, Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy) 64.
Can you help or advise what the problem is?

Thank you very much,
ciao,
Uwe

yes

Mirror 2 is down due hardware problems

> Failed to fetch http://akirad.cinelerra.org/dists/akirad-hardy/main/binary-amd64/Package... Hash Sum mismatch
Very strange, I have tested now the repository and it works good. Try to check Synatipc>Settings>Third-party-software

> When I download a package from http://akirad.cinelerra.org/pool/main-hardy/ the response is: Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: akiradnews
no, just download and install akiradnews first

> I wonder if others experience the same problems or if its a peculiarity of my system (Intel CoreDuo 2.4GHz, 4GB Ram, Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy) 64. Can you help or advise what the problem is?
no, it works great on this hardware

> Both mirrors seem not to respond, it is always beck to akirad. Is there an alternative?
Working in progress with new provider...

libfaad error

I just upgraded to 8.04(64). Cinelerra worked great in 7.10(64) I see on the forms many people are getting this same error

cinelerra: symbol lookup error: /usr/local/lib/libquicktimehv-1.6.0.so.1: undefined symbol: faacDecDecode

I think my problems is with the libfaad2-0 installed on my machine (installed version 2.6.1-2). It doesn't seem to allow me to install libfaad2-dev
I get the following error from Synaptic Package manager:

libfaad2-dev:
Depends: libfaad2-0 (=2.0.0+cvs20040908+mp4v2+bmp-0ubuntu5) but 2.6.1-2 is to be installed

IS there a fix to this?

Thanks

libfaad error

I solved my own problem.

If you compiled cinelerra from source before you upgraded, you have to make uninstall before you reinstall.
Duh!

Elementary Watson!

Ubuntu 8.04 and 8.04 64

If this is a dumb question or the wrong place I am sorry in advance

I upgraded my 7.10 to 8.04 (Edubuntu X86) and I still have the issue requiring cinelerra to be run as sudo. I am also running Ubuntu 7.10(64) I am waiting for all the kinks to be worked out before I upgrade. Is there a good fix the normal user issue and does everything work yet on the 8.04(64).
Thanks
lledurt

Ubuntu hardy is nothing to be afraid of

Hardy might be well worth the upgrade though but can anyone here answer why cinelerra always crashes im using a nearly fresh istall of hardy and the second i trie to record anything cinellera just exits or segfaults and i know i have capable hardware this is a Dell precision M6300 with 4 GBs of ram and a 200 gb hdd with the latest 64 bit kernel package availble in the main hardy heron repository

have you

have you trie to use a generic kernel mayor of 2.6.24-17?

check your kernel

from terminal with:

uname -r

only 2.4.24-17-generic works without problem

byez

Paolo Rampino

only 2.4.24-17-generic works without problem

2.4.24-19-generic work or not?

yes, it works...

all kernel generic major of 2.4.24-16 works, sorry for mistake!

qdvdauthor-akirad requires libxine1 1.1.8

Hi, I have tried to install qdvdauthor-akirad, but I received the following error message:
qdvdauthor-akirad:
Depends: libxine1 (>=1.1.8) but 1.1.7-1ubuntu1 is to be installed
Why is this so? Should libxine1-1.1.8 be available at repository.akirad.net?
Thanks
Daniel

Akirad repository is ever update

and so you need to enable all ubuntu updates to install packages
