I get the following error message when I load clips taken with a Kodak Z1275 camera:
virtual int FileMOV::read_frame(VFrame*):quicktime_read_frame/quicktime_decode_video, failed, result:
The funny thing is that when I close the error message screen and I drag the clip onto the Program Window I can still use the Compositor Window. In other words the error does not seem to disable editing entirely.
Can anyone tell me what this error is about?
Please note that I am still feeling my way about with Cinelerra, am still ignorant of most functions and am amazed that I got this far.
Any comments would be much appreciated.

Sorry these ******* haven't responded yet, and...
...I may be experiencing something completely different, but the "virtual int fileMOV::read_frame(VFrame*): quicktime_read_frame/quicktime_decode_video failed, result:" error I found has to do with the codec (technically the encoder, but such is the colloquialism). I have not had much luck loading .mpeg or .mov quicktime or other wise [mpg], but I have had some success loading and working with DV (yes, digital video: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dv), but you will have to play around with the codec settings, which should be easy enough. Cinelerra likes uncompressed data, I guess, even though the manual really only mentions Quicktime (truly independent video editing in Linux has been handled by giants like ifxAnt and Piranha Cinema for a long time, it seems). The video I got to work in Cinelerra was converted to DV by Kino: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kino_(software)
You will also need to mess around with Cinelerra's preferences (only the appropriate ones, and this shouldn't usually include the video driver (video drivers are another issue that mostly have to do with speed, but can certainly have largely rippling effects).
